Episode 2
#takemeto Cordoba, Spain en route to Seville
We left Madrid early in the morning in prep for our 5 hour bus drive to Seville. We made several stops on the way which made the drive seem a tad bit shorter. Our first stop was the Don Quijote hotel. Through out our Spain trip, Don Quijote became a recurring theme as it was probably the most famous piece of literature from the country. I remember reading this book in Spanish and crying about how difficult it was. However, I was really grateful to have read it because the stops we made to see anything associated with the book became more exciting as I fan-girled seeing the book come to life. This hotel was no exception. It was so beautiful and in such a quiet and small town. We had a cup of hot chocolate and my sister and I had way to much fun poising next to the sculptures of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. The town was idyllic, and there were shops selling Spanish saffron and olive oil.

After our hot chocolate was drunk and our camera roll full with pictures from this beautiful town, we started our journey on the road again. Around noonish we stopped at a gas station for some coffee and a quick bite. If any of y'all are vegetarian like myself, gas stations have basically nothing for us. If you can, pack some snacks from home before you go to Spain because there will be times where vegetarian food will be scarce. Once we finished our cold pasta and interesting cheese bread, we were off again! After a couple of hours, we finally reached Córdoba Spain.
We visited the famous mosque that has since been turned into a cathedral and it was jaw droopingly beautiful. I don't think I will ever get tired of visiting houses of worship. There's something magical about them in the absolute peace and quiet atmosphere. The architecture of this building was inspiring. It was amazing to see the old muslim architecture and how it has since been integrated into the cathedral. We learned about how the muslims reused material from previous inhabitants to build this great mosque. I thought it was so cool how they were able to innovate and create such grandiose structures so long ago. After spending some time in this beautiful building, it was time to board the bus again.

We kept driving and stopped at a bull ranch for dinner. We learned the history of this ranch and the sport of bull fighting. It kind of reminded me of the Texas Rodeo. The family who owned the ranch were so sweet and we learned a great deal from them about the sport and lifestyle. It was an experience that wouldn't have been possible if I went to Spain without a tour as I would have never thought to do this. I highly recommend visiting a ranch if you can because you get to spend time with locals and learn about their way of life. Afterwards, we went to have dinner at the ranch. They had AMAZING vegetarian food (whoop whoop)! We had a salad for starters and then a cuscos and vegetable mixture. The veggies were seasoned well and were tender. The sangria they served was so delicious! For dessert we had a coffee mouse thing and it tasted kinda like a salted caramel creame brûlée. With our full stomach and our bodies in a food coma, we bordered the bus yet again and drove for another half an hour and reached our hotel in Seville!
