Hi everyone! I hope you guys liked my first installment of the vegetarian travels! As winter break comes to an end, I though I would show y'all one of my favourite detox routines that's really quick and simple. As an undergrad, I rarely have the time (or money #brokecollege kid probz) to have a real spa day or get a facial. But, my at home detox does the trick and doesn't break the bank!

My first step is to make a detox water for my skin. I really love these DIY recipes for your skin, because you usually have everything in your kitchen and it's natural. I try to make a detox water once a week especially in the colder months when I don't drink as much water. Here are some of my favourite detox water recipes:
Cucumber, Lemon, and Mint
This is your classic "spa water" and the lemon and mint helps to aid in digestion while the cucumber helps your skin by rehydrating it. Cucumber also has anti-inflammatory properties which can help our body immensely. This may sound a bit gross, but foods that help aid in digestion like lemon is really great for the skin, because it cleans out our system. My mom always told me growing up, that acne is one way your body tells you to clean your system and get all the junk out - gross I know, but also quite true.
Lemon Water
This is by far my favourite detox water, and I usually drink this if i'm having trouble remembering to drink water one day. It makes you thirsty and thus you intake more water, which is great for your skin!
Strawberry Spa Water
This is one of my favourite waters to drink around the fall time. The strawberries add a refreshing taste to the water and it's with vitamin C and K. As someone who would rather eat a radish than any fruit (I just really don't like fruits) this is a great way to get some of those vitamins in. You can honestly add any other fruit to your water as well! Just remember, the best way to get all the beneficial properties of fruit, is to actually eat it. And if you're like me, your mom will probably text you at least three times a day to see if you've had your daily fruit serving (thanks mom <3).
My second step is a sheet mask of some sort. I love the Yes to Cucumber masks and the Face Shop masks because they're very moisturizing. I think sheet masks are great for your skin every once in a while, especially if you're a busy college student and don't have time to make your own DIY face mask! I always follow up any mask with cream, my favourite is the Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion. It's fragrance free, and the only thing it promises to do it hydrate your skin. I'm not really one for fragranced lotions that promise to do a million different things because I feel like there's just way too many chemicals in lotions like that.
My last step is a great lip moisturizer. My favourite one is the Smith's Rosebud Salve. It amazing for the lips, cuticles, and any dry parts of your skin. I like to put this on at night because it's semi heavy duty, so I don't want to wear it during the day. My favourite lip balm for the day is the Burt's Bees' lip balm, they're super light weight and moisturizing.
That's it for today's post! I hope y'all have a great spring semester!
Peace and blessings,
Srini
