Happy Friendsgiving!

Updated: Nov 12, 2019

Hi guys! American thanksgiving is just around the corner and my friends and I throw a friendsgiving each year before we all leave for break! It's definitely a stressful event because we all are studying for midterms, but the actual day is one of my favorite days of the semester. We eat tons of food and play many rounds of cards against humanity!

For today's post, I've included some pics of a friendsgiving a couple years back (great for inspo) and some tips and tricks!

Tips/Tricks to have a less stressful Thanksgiving (I hope):

- If you are cooking for more than 5 people/ are having multiple families over, make it a potluck. My friend suggested this when we were planning friendsgiving, but I'm stubborn (as virgos are) and didn't listen (Hannah, you were right). It's going save you a bunch of time and won't make you start drinking at 10am to stay relaxed.

- Make the base of your casseroles beforehand. We actually mixed all the ingredients for our Mac 'n Cheese casserole the night before, which saved us time on the actual day and prevented our casserole from being dry.

- Make your mashed potatoes the night before. It's one of the easiest recipes, but it takes some time. Plus, it doesn't hurt to make the easier one the day before and it doesn't dry up in the fridge.

- We made roasted veggies and my friend actually pre-made the oil the day before. It's a small step but it saves time! Also, have half your veggies be fresh and the other half frozen. This saves a lot of money and chopping time! We had fresh asparagus, carrots, and onions , but we used frozen broccoli, and brussel sprouts.

- Save money and make your own sparkling punch with sparkling water and cranberry juice! Saves money and tastes great☺️

- Be mindful of everyone's dietary restrictions. As a vegetarian myself, I made sure that there were plenty of vegan/veggie options so that everyone can leave with their bellies filled to the brim.

- While it's not the green way to go, paper plates save dish washing time if you have to catch the bust later that night (like I did). Get some recyclable plates and that way you aren't hurting the environment!

- Take pictures before hand. You really don't want your food baby making it's debut in your holiday pics.

- Lastly have lots of fun with your loved ones! Don't over stress, it's the holidays and half the holiday spirit is to be annoyed at your loved ones.

Here are some pics of our spread from a couple of years ago! I was incredibly proud of us, because we spent under $40 for all of that food! #ballinonabudget

This cheese platter makes my heart so happy. Seriously, find someone who looks at you the way I look at cheese.

📷 This year was my first time making a corn casserole and it was delicious!

Mac 'n Cheese!

We also crumbled some bread over it.

My friend made this delicious vegan stir-fry and it was one of my favourite dishes!

OMG these veggies were to DIE for. Seriously. OK, I may have a slight problem when it comes to veggies, or cheese, or food in general but these were the bomb.com.

hehe when you're in Uni and to poor to afford nice plate. Shout out to Papa Johns for being the real MVP. These muffins were super easy to make, one box of spice mixed and a can of pumpkin puree.

These vegan dark chocolate covered oreos will kill the dessert game every time.

That's it for today's blogpost! Hopefully I am able to post before finals begin!

Peace and blessings,

Srini
