Hey y'all!
I'm nearing the end of my 2 week extended spring break and with everything going on I'm definitely feeling stressed but hopeful. I start school again on the 30th and I'm definitely worried about doing online classes. My university may even switch to a pass/fail grading system so I am unsure how that's going to work for medical school pre-reqs. These are definitely uncertain times, so here's what I've been doing to *try* to keep sane.
1. Checking the news and then IMMEDIATELY regretting it. I'm incredibly grateful for out healthcare heroes and every person on the front line along with reliable information from the CDC, NIH and other sources. However, getting news on how the U.S. is responding to the pandemic (especially from our president) is a different story. I feel like I need to take multiple shots just to get through the briefings coming out of the White House.
2. Watching way too much BTS videos. Basically after regretting looking at the news, I need to be happy. So ofc I turn to BTS, their musics, and more importantly their hilarious variety shows (Run BTS, Bon Voyage, etc).
3. Watching way too many KDramas. Ok basically my youtube and Netflix recommendations are all Korean content and I'm here for it. Tbh with this pandemic going on I should probably start learning Korean so I can fully understand Kpop songs without translations lol.
4. Facetimeing friends. Honestly it's so important to call up your friends and talk to them. I'm used to texting my friends and seeing them in class or when we all go out. With this pandemic going on I actually started calling people up and it has really helped my mental health! It's funny because my parents are used to calling their friends up to talk, but for my generation calling your friends up was a super weird concept up until now.
5. Family dinners. I actually missed having family dinner in college so it's been really nice to have dinner with my family and watch a couple of episodes of Castle!
6. Editing photos. If you follow my insta (@srinisblog) you may have noticed I changed up my theme. Honestly I got bored, downloaded a bunch of editing apps, and now I take out all my creative energy by editing my insta photos. I've become obsessed.
7. Cooking/Baking! I'm not the best cook when it comes to easy recipes. I got my dad's gene of adding random things to recipes to make them more complicated (which annoys the hex out of my mom and sister). Yet, I actually started cooking some basic recipes in prep for my move to NYC!
What have you been up to during this social distancing time period? How do you keep yourself busy? Let me know in the comment bellow!
Until next time!
Peace and Love,
Srini
