Hi Guys!
I am leaving for Europe in a week and I wanted to create a post dedicated to what to pack on a carry-on. After the whole lost bag fiasco with Air-France, I've decided to not pack a checked bag. I mean it was fun to shop for clothes in Scandinavia because I got to buy pieces I wouldn't find in the US, but shopping in a country where you don't speak the language is a challenge of its own. Here's a list of what I am packing for a 14 day trip to Europe!
The Perfect Carry-On Suitcase
Ok, so the one I am actually taking is one that I bought in Norway after it became clear that Air-France wasn't going to send our bags anytime soon. The biggest tip I have for a suitcase is getting a hard-shell suitcase. They're incredible durable and won't tear like the cloth ones do.
Here's a link to the bag I am using: https://tinyurl.com/y245dknm
It's actually quite affordable, and it didn't dent on our way back from Norway!
Here are a couple of other options:
https://tinyurl.com/y3lugmaj : This Delsey Chalet Carry-On is incredibly durable and worth the investment. It's definitely on the pricier side, but if you travel quite often it's worth it!
https://tinyurl.com/y457dv8l : Ok, my family loves Samsonite suitcases! They've been the only ones that have survived our many trips to India without a dent. I can't recommend this bag enough.
Packing Cubes
One thing I've found to be a life saver in packing a carry-on has been packing cubes! They actually save a lot of space and really organize your clothes. The only thing down side is they can wrinkle your clothes, so maybe refrain from packing clothes that would need to be ironed. My grandfather actually taught me this neat no heat ironing trick for clothes! Just take an extra pillow from your bed (preferably the firmer one), place the clothes under the pillow, and then add something of weight on top of the pillow (like a book from the hotel nightstand). When you wake up, your shirt will be wrinkle-free!

What to put into your suitcase
Here's everything that I recommend packing. Not gonna lie, I have an incredibly organized little sister who probably packed every necessity I forgot (like Advil or band-aids) so we're going to share (or like i'm going to borrow/steal.. what are sisters for?) Pro Tip: wear your heaviest shoes and jacket on the plane along with light weight clothes.
Shoes:
Sneakers- these were my heaviest shoes I was going to take, so they were the ones I chose to wear on the plane. I'm packing my Adidas sneakers because they are so comfortable! Here's a similar pair that's one sale: https://tinyurl.com/y2y4tjs6
Flat Sandals- These I really only packed these to walk around in the hotel room: https://tinyurl.com/y4o3tz38
Heeled Sandals- I wanted "fancy shoes" that were easy to walk in, and they're on sale!: https://tinyurl.com/y4kxv7j8
Pajamas:
Honestly, I didn't really pack any fancy pajamas for my trip. I packed a couple of large t-shirts from college and sweatpants. I'm all about being comfy at night! Plus they are light weight and take up almost no room!
Clothing Items:
3 pairs of jeans
1 skirt
10 t-shirts/blouses
2 pairs of shorts
2 dresses
2 rompers
** I packed a ton of shirts/blouses that so that I can make "different" outfits by just rotating my jeans/shorts/skirts
Toiletries:
Toothbrush/paste
Hairbrush
Floss
Concealer
Face wash (travel size)
Mini tarteist to go palette
Lipbalm
Eyeshadow brush
Mascara
**I really don't wear a lot of make-up and that's why my list is so small! Also, for face wash I actually use baby wash (swear by it) and they make travel sizes of those!
What do you pack on your carry on?
